Both seats fitted..
Was concerned about the height increase, but the seats do adjust low and flat so have clearance on the legs.. not a huge amount, but it’s ok.
The seats are a huge improvement..

I have just measured where you did hubcap with my original vw seats in and its 19-20cm so a bit concerned about your 14-15cm measurement. As we are both 16 stone yet you are 5 inches taller than me I am wondering if I may have issues with getting my thighs underneath as I am no 'skinny jeans' type bloke yet as you are taller dont you have to bring your knees closer to the seat which would basically have you in a hunched position like trying to drive an original mini?

Never had an issue with clearance.
My legs are either side of steering wheel.
Seat is adjusted all the way back, only "hunched" over wheel when parking. Relaxing position normal driving.

100leelee: Great result, any photos to share (especially of the runner mod's etc)?

Hubcap: Relaxing position while driving?? I suppose at 6'6" relaxation is a relative term but good to know you have achieved something less than excruciating!  Good pics btw, thanks!

As for hunched position in minis, I was always more comfortable in my classic minis than most larger vehicles at the time and I'm only an inch shorter than you (but my minis were just minis then and I was 4 stone lighter)!

Will take some photos tomorrow...
Removed stock runners to get the seats as low as possible..
They make a huge difference in comfort...

That's a great outcome! I have a set of heated leather from my own 9-5 that died and I will definitely be exploring this mod myself. Looking forward to seeing your set-up!

Bit of care needed to drill out the spot welds for the original runners.
On the outer mounts added a piece of 4mm flat steel underneath the inner wheel arch to spread the load.
