Tailgate Adjustment

Post by 100leelee »

Hi
The Tailgate on my van needs adjustment.
I know the hinges make the adjustment, but is there a set way to move them.
The passenger side is perfect, the drivers side needs to go ‘in’ by around 5mm.
Any help appreciated as it’s bloomin heavy!!
Thanks

The factory repair manual says slacken the hinge socket head bolts and move the tailgate to have even gap at the sides and 12mm on the top.
Probably you have to loosen the striker plate bolts too and close the tailgate.
I think you can use a plastic wedge or similar to carefully pry it sideways. No mention of tools in the manual.

E D I T: if your tailgate sticks out then you need to turn the bump stop in the lower corners
