Sliding door bearings

Post by Lanciaman »

Some may have seen my post on Facebook ('VW T25 Club' - I'm Jeff Lawlor on there) regarding the guide roller bearings on the sliding door mechanism, with some pics.
I've replaced the bearings and find one of the two has rather a lot of end float, which I suspect is not as intended. The spigot it locates on must be worn, allowing vertical movement. Does anyone have any similar experience of this, and should I shim it with a washer to limit the vertical movement/slop? Maybe also put some Hermetite or similar on the spigot to improve the fit there. Any thoughts?

Hi, I had the same problem but given the stresses on it from use I had to go for a whole new unit and save my old one as a spare with the new bearings fitted to it.
