Rock and roll bed without hinges?

Post by RazorRiggott »

I'm currently refurbishing the interior of my T25 'project' and when dismantled I noted that the rock and roll seat doesn't have the metal hinges joining the two halves together.

Both seats have these sprung metal arms which appear to act in their place but not sure they are adequate? Have seen others listed on eBay similar.

All advice welcome! Thanks

That’s a Autohomes style , perfectly functional , fairly common , although Autohomes were generally not trimmed with the best quality furnishings within, as they were made by CI ( Caravan International , who made Sprite caravans ) so had lots of cheap chipboard rather than voringer ply used by more expensive conversions such as leisuredrive and autosleeper

Thanks Steve

Strange as it is an autosleeper, though has clearly been messed with over the years.

Kitchen and bed are being refurbished - at least that's one less thing to attend to!

Cheers, Chris

autohomes used nylon bushes for their version of the wire folding mechanism, those nylon blocks from the 70's/80s used to support shelves in cheap wardrobes and book cases

I thought about replacing mine (Autohomes) with the metal framed RnR type but when I compared the dimensions It would have resulted in less space as the the Autohomes design fits further back. The seat is also slightly higher which I prefer.

The main problem I found with the Autohomes rear seat being further rearwards is when fitting rear seat belts which requires that the short belt (that has the receiver) must also be fitted further back.
