Thank you all.

Still not sure what they’re called though. Haha.
I didn’t realise they were meant to be attached to the back of the grille.
I’ll have to see if they can be purchased separately to the grille.
Cheers
Matt

I don’t think they are available, most vans won’t have them now , one of ours has, but they are very tatty and detached mostly ,
Almost impossible to get a picture of to show on here because they are so rare these days , it I knew of a mint low miles 92 so got the man to take a pic and send it to me for the purpose of this post because so many obviously didn’t know they existed ....

No part numbers I’m afraid ...
still working on that

Cheers steve.
Yes. Mine are tatty too. They appear to be made from an MDF type material which is coated or treated somehow.
I might just have to try and replicate them from something similar and maybe coat them in something weatherproof.

Thanks for the help.

Just use some black correx - easy to work with and cheap to buy. While you can buy large sheets A4 & A3 can be bought from ebay easily enough.

Think they are actually made of Thin fibre board.
I’ve always called it VW speshul black card board

Honestly , they don’t actually do much , can’t be that crucial because hardly any vans have them theses days !

As many have said , plastic sign board or alike will do it

Yes I wouldn't fret about them. They don't need to attach to the grill either, they sit quite fine on the frame ledge between the headlights and wedge in. I just cut mine to match the old ones out of estate agent signs as many have done. I need to get on there soon to fix a headlight, I'll photo and measure them if that's useful?

To be fair they shouldn’t need a lot of measurements, they go from the rad to the headlight ...

Hope these help- really should paint them one day :-)

These were copied from my vw ones, which weren't bad tbh, but just grotty cardboard after all.
