Welding/Repair Costs

Post by witchveil »

Hi

New to forums so hope this is the right place for this?

I'm looking to buy a T25 camper. Got my eye on a few but one in particular I haven't even been to see yet but the seller has been very up front and told me they've had it checked just recently and found that the front passenger seatbelt bolting into the car body is unsafe/rusted through (I know this is an MOT failure). The van also has a slight bit of rust around the rear right wheel arch. Obviously I'll check myself when I view it for any other areas of rust but I was hoping if anyone could give me a rough idea how much it would cost to get these two particular areas fixed?

Thanks

I don’t think those areas will be massively expensive to patch up - really need to see pictures although panels are cheap enough to buy. Where about’s are you based as someone maybe able to recommend a bodyshop to do the job.

These buses are getting old now and I guarantee that most will need work somewhere.

That van sounds like a minter compared to some of the welding horrors ive read on the forum,if thats all thats wrong with it buy it.the seat belt panel is an easy fix so won't be expensive.

it will nearly always be worse than it looks on the surface, figure on £35/hour plus materials plus paint to do it right

I'm sure every t25 on the road today has some hidden horrors,it's what the mot man finds we fix.

Thanks Fazzer, I'm not put off; I know they all need a bit of work/maintenance - its part of their character. And I don't mind trying to do some of that maintenance myself but welding is beyond me XD

Anyway, the search goes on, the van I was referring to has now been snapped up.

Welding was beyond me until I got my van. See 'My T25 Restoration'. I'm now by no means an expert welder but it's amazing what you can achieve if you want to save yourself some money :D
