Window rubber seals

Post by randiandipandi »

Just a quick question - I need to renew the rubber seals around the side windows on my panel van conversion, where is the best place to get these?
It is a twin slider if that makes any difference!

Thanks

I got mine from A.H. Schofield along with some other stuff. They are a good fit and they give 80-90 club members a discount. (Details on the members discount page ^^^.)

Try asking Metalmickey on this site. He has supplied them to me in the past and knows the best ones to buy.

Didn't he change his nick to Plasticman or something?

He sorted out my rubber seals for me, just checked my messages from him and his forum name has indeed changed to Plasticman.

I messaged him (MM/Plasticman) about 2 weeks ago but got no reply as I would have preferred to buy them from him. :(

Aye, I put him on to them. Certainly within last four years I've been asked by two owners to swap newly fitted JK windscreen seals for proper ones. The JK ones do fit, with lots of persuasion, but no way like OE, have a tendency to leak, and they also sit too proud for my liking. The effort needed to push a cheaper seal home can result in a broken screen if not lubed enough. For an extra £10 or whatever it works out cheaper and a lot less hassle to get a decent seal rather than having to swap it out later on. :tsk

Good quality seal only needs one person, with minimum effort to refit screen. JK ones often require two people, much luck, and possibly a prayer.

On the left, contoured OE. on the right 'bulging' JK one:

I'm not a 100% believer in "you get what you pay for" but in this instance thats perfectly true and there are a lot of copies around. Plasticman won't use JK ones either. They'rte not carp, just not as good, nor do they look good.

If it were me, I'd return JK one, but up to you.

What is an OE window seal? I may be in need of a new windscreen rubber seal, the one I have might be a JK one.
