T25 Viking Seals

Post by Ceirion »

Hello having bought a new t25 Viking, I think super Viking 5 berth. I need to replace the rubber seal on the pop up roof. Can anyone suggest where I can get hold of one and are they easy to replace?

Have you had a look on seals direct? I've used them in the past, don't know what you're Viking seals are like but they may be worth a look.

I bought mine from Camper Shop/Poptop Parts although the 'seals' links on their website don't seem to work at the moment. Definitely worth giving them a ring though - they were the best value I could find a year ago.

Fitting isn't too difficult. The fibreglass is quite thick so the sprung section of the seal has to open up quite a lot. Note that this 'seal' doesn't really need to be weather tight, since any water that does get in only reaches the outside of the canvas anyway, so it's really more of a cushion. On the hinge side, on the section between the front and back hinges and between each pair of hinges, I've used a simple U-section instead, to avoid blocking the gutter but to make it visually match the rest.

Great thank you, I have read it can be a real pain to fit behind the hinges on the vikings

Yes, I'm sure it would be difficult to shape and fit the full original rubber section behind the hinges. But apart from that I reckon it would trap water, and maybe even pull it up into the hinges by capillary action, eventually leading to the hinges pulling out of the metal roof (ask me how I know!). Even the simple U-channel was a bit fiddly to fit, but quite doable in situ, and it leaves the gutter quite clear.

:ok thank you I am going to attempt it as the white painted seal just makes something beautiful slightly tarnished
