DF engine - anything else to worry about other than speed?

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

DF engine - anything else to worry about other than speed?

Post by nicktennear »

I think I've found a good van but it has the DF engine in. I know it lacks horses but apart from that is there anything else to worry about? Are there any DF specific parts that are hard to get? Is the MPG worse than a DG? I can cope with the speed because anything over 60 makes my teeth rattle.

The DF is a good engine , don’t panic !
On the cooling system there are two differences between a early DF and a early DG , the metal cross pipe that goes from the RHS of the engine to the LHS is different ( looks the same but has different ports) and the carb coolant pipes obviously because the carbs are different .
Obviously the in,et manifold and carb and heads are different

All other parts are interchangeable , exhaust , water pump alternator starter ect .

We ran a DF for a long while , and if it has the original gear box it will keep with any DG , and mpg is no better, no worse .
