Front wheel bearings

Post by kentishvanman »

Not sure which way to go.
The M o T certificate says...slight play in n/s front wheel bearing [advisory]. The examiner said the bearings need's repacking.
Yes there is some play, both at 12 & 6 and also at 3 & 9.
What is wrong with adjusting/tightening the hub retaining nut?

I just tightened the nut a bit and that worked for me. The MOT place also advised there was movement on the rear bearings. I had to tell them the bearings were C3 clearance bearings and they are designed like that and are correct when hot.

My MOT is due shortly and always worries me about the C3 bearing explanation, has not been failed on it yet but a couple of MOTs back they were picked up as an advisory as having slight play.  I must remember this explanation and hope the MOT guy is familiar with it, if they are given a worse or even a failure next time.
