Early Coolant system metal cross pipe

Post by freckvan1 »

Evening All,
I’m struggling to find part number and the part itself for the metal cross pipe on my early cooling system.
My original looking pretty grim, but seems ok . Tried B/W, etc no joy . Hopefully someone can assist .

They've been discontinued for some years, some members on here have made their own but you'll be lucky to find a new one anywhere. I believe that a company was starting to produce them but the new pipes still needed refinement.

Can you put up a picture of the pipe?

I thought the OP was referring to the early coolant distribution pipe that crosses over the engine which is no longer available, I believe the part number is: 025 121 081. Which looks like this:

A crusty one on fleabay which looks more rust than metal...

do you mean the one in front of the carb with the water temp sensor in it, for a DG, 025 121 081 D ?

I don't think that it is available from anywhere so you need a used one from a breaker or repair it wholely or partial replace with hoses, depends where it is holed

Sorry for late reply and thanks lads for helping .
Yup, as in Ant’s photo that’s the pipe . Mine’s not leaking, but looking pretty rough, as in wouldn’t
chance taking back to bare metal without a spare ! Was hoping to replace it when I do next coolant change shortly . At least I have the part number, good excuse for silver surfing !
As Aidan suggests, I’ll have to think of a way round this .
