L shaped pipe

Post by kentishvanman »

L shaped pipe from water pump to thermostat; 1987 T25 DG, purchased from J K's.  and difficult to fit. Had to cut away metal to get heater hose take off thro. Pipe is too short so the rubber elbow [pipe to thermostat] is now not long enough to fit the pipe clamps. Awaiting reply from JK.
Any suggestions welcome.? Quickest solution is to obtain a longer elbow but from where?

PS. Just seen on ebay 38mm i/d silicone elbow hose, with 150mm legs, for vehicles. That should solve the problem. JK will probably say send it back which means taking it off, packing it up etc. Blow that.
Will invoice JK for cost of hose.

I had that with VW commercial with a hose that didn't fit correctly even though it was the correct part number, so anyone can get it wrong. ( JK more often than others though )

Update.
One of those jobs that if it can go wrong it has ie broken hose clips etc
E mailed JK about 'short pipe' and they did not hesitate to pay for the new rubber elbow required.
One point in their favour.

In my experience, all aftermarket parts fit badly, from 'just OK' to 'not going to work at all!' Sadly you get what you pay for. Original manufacturer parts if available, are always a lot more expensive and for good reason... they actually fit. Aftermarket manufacturers don't have the big budgets sadly. I have bought parts before which actually don't fit at all and it makes you wonder how the sellers don't just get loads of complaints or even why they still sell the parts??
