Where could I get main bearings made to order?

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

Yep, they're not in production yet. Latest estimate is to come out of the factory mid December, with us early January, but I expect that to be put back again. Might be Easter before we see any.

Resurrecting this post, as I am desperate to get this sorted. If I can't get the bearings soon, I will have to put in a Subaru engine (which I really can't afford to do) just because I can't get these inexpensive bearings. Any help would be appreciated.

Why not just put in a working used engine while you wait for bearings to rebuild yours?

Because I'd still have to buy one and I looked into it and it would cost no more for a Subaru conversion. But it's academic, as I can't afford either.

That's either a really cheap Subaru job, or a very expensive WBX! You should get a decent used DG for £500-750.

Has anyone ever had any bearings made to order, or know of a good engineering firm who could carry out this work?

You would need detailed dimensioned drawings together with material specifications before a good engineering took on the work.

I personally know a few, but, I suspect that you might be surprised at the cost involved.

If you or anyone else were able to make a set of bearings available to be measured up for drawing I could help, the next issue would be what materials to be used.

I expect they will be the same material as all engine bearings, spec is easy enough, it’s in the manual

What is the material specified in the manual?

ZsZ's link leads to what looks like a sintered type of bronze?

Will be the same as all engine bearings , generally aluminium tin and steel, wouldn’t be difficult to find out,the bearing dimensions can be reverse engineered

I suspect that if this isn't resolved soon, having suffix B cases line-bored and dowelled to use the early type thick-walled shells will be the solution.
Air cooled bearings will always be available because that scene is massive compared to wbx survivor numbers and they come in case oversizes to salvage a hammered casing that has been run to death with no oil pressure.

Spoke to a UK supplier today who tells me that new KS crank shaft bearings for the late 1.9/2.1 will be available shortly (std size only), but only a limited supply. OK, so standard size only, so need a new crank, but after nearly 2 years off the road, this is good news.

Believe it when I see it. I was told they would be in stock "soon" 6 months down the line still out of stock ;). Glad I sourced mine from Germany before they all fell off the earth.

f hell it's the oversizes we really need, KS get your s together, GoWesty need them for all their SCAT supplied cranks and had the chance 2 years ago order 1000 sets but didn't.......
