Re: E10 Petrol
I am still planning on changing to silicone, not that I don't trust a Govt site.. but they may not have considered vehicles older than 20 yrs in the review for instance

Couldn't find the reference to silicone in the thread - my experience is that petrol swells up silicon tubing and drastically reduces its strength. Or have I got the wrong end of the stick@

Silicone pipe should not be used for petrol.

Re: E10 PETROL THREADS
Must admit, I have been filling up with E5 for ages, did not realise its content until the attention raised by the introduction of E10, just accepted E5 was unleaded and therefore ok for my camper. Have mentioned on other posts that E5 or its equivalent is not readily available at stations who only supply E10. Are there any early symptoms of using E10 to indicate a problem.

Re: E10 PETROL THREADS
Thanks for info re the silicone, the ref to it was at start of thread and tbf it says silicone type or similar from brickwerks so misread it .

Will get it done this year anyway as E10 is now on pumps...will use E5 where available until then.

Assuming i am now using E10 (it does smell a bit different from exhaust) i can report no loss of power or economy.
I use my bus every day with no issues.
Now that is music to my ear, as I have a 1986 Caravelle!

Another one here who continues to use standard supermarket fuel with no additives. Van starts as normal and runs fine, no trouble with emissions on recent MOT. Can't help thinking there has been a lot of scaremongering and misinformation with the E10 (probably started by the additive manufacturers, they must be loving it), I mean, it's only an extra 5% isn't it. If you were to have an operation and the doctor said you have a 5% chance of survival, you'd think you are a goner wouldn't you, it's such a piddling amount. Just keep frequently checking the rubber fuel hoses, but we should be doing that anyway.

Re: E10 PETROL THREADS
Notwithstanding the rot on piping and soldered items within the fuel system, there does seem to be a remarkable drop in MPG, not just in T25s but other vehicles, I have noticed my Focus is a bit more thirsty since using E10 but that could also be a mixture of the E10 and the marked increase in the price of fuel since its inception.

With the 4 vehicles I have experience with currently, there has been no difference at all. It's most likely price increases, as you rightly say, which is the marked difference. I do think it's all too easy to blame E10 for everything, can't believe half the things I see on car forums, 'my roof aerial fell off, this damn E10 petrol!' kind of thing. E10 has been used in Europe and America (since 1990) for years already, and America using E15 even.
Re: E10 PETROL THREADS
Thanks! That 'other issues' comment made me smile, hehe. Always something with these old cars, that's part of the fun if it. When something else falls off or goes wrong, we have to remember that we are choosing to do this, we want to do it, it's all a part of the hobby and we enjoy it, then it's a far better more appeasing frame of mind to be in.

Re: E10 PETROL THREADS
I've not noticed a difference with e10 and the van. I dont generally drive fast, but I also tend to alternate between "super" and e10.

Re: E10 PETROL THREADS
E10 has made no difference to my van at all , I ran on Super unleaded before and I’m still running on it .
