Master cylinder mount

Post by Ragtime.ben »

The guy who I bought my t25 from has somehow managed to break the alloy plate which holds the clutch master cylinder, behind the pedal. Anyone seen anything like this before ? (Doubtful) and any advice on replacement would be much appreciated. It’s a cast part by the looks of it and not something that looks easy to find or replace 😑 ImageImage

how the f..

the mount plate is available new still from classic parts but you will find it easier to find a complete used pedal set and fit that but it's not an easy job, really it is a dash out job, davidoft1 says he can do it without taking the dash out but I couldn't on a lhd, it maybe easier on a rhd
I would advise reinforcing the hole in the clutch pedal the clutch pedal clevis fits in so that you don't have wear issues going forward and set up the pedal and cylinder push rod clearance before fitting the pedal as it is difficult to do blind insitu and that maybe is the reason yours has broken
put up a wanted ad on here and the various fb groups and try ringing Mick at VW NW 07968367046

Thanks for the reply Aidan. I’m still pretty baffled as to how the previous owner has managed this, my only assumption is that they have tried to force the pedal, given that the slave cylinder had seized.
I know of a couple of people breaking later vans 85 onwards but unsure whether a pedal assembly from one of these would be compatible with my 81.
I knew as soon as I saw it that it wasn’t going to be an easy job. Hopefully I can find some further guidance on here if people have swapped out pedal assemblies before 😬

I've got a pedal assembly from the syncro I am breaking. Doubts there is any difference but I could be wrong.

It’s not uncommon for that to break , can be done with dash in, fiddly but I’ve done it :) plenty of used ones about

I did the whole thing I changed from auto to manual, I had to mount the pedals after I fitted the bracket , it’s a little fiddly but I think only took 1-1/2 hrs , I may have pictures but probably won’t give you much info
