Fuel line for CT engine

Post by Mona »

Hi All,

I want to replace my fuel lines but can't see a kit for a CT, only this line for a CU here

Will this fit a CT, and what other parts do I need please? I was hoping to find a list somewhere.

Thanks

Hello,

Nope, that is a waste of time for you.

A CT engine has a feed from and a return to the fuel tank, with 2 spigots on the pict 34/4 carburettor

Why replace the nylon plastic tube...just the filter, flexible pipes and clips.

Have you got as far as checking the venting system above the petrol tank?

If it has not been done, I would suggest that you drop the tank, repaint, replace any dodgy bits, (you'll have fun trying to find the little 'trumpets'). A good time to revise the gearchange linkage, esp the plastic grommet through which passes the linkage and sort out the hot air hose which is probably bunged up with bits of dead foam insulation..

Finally getting the tank dropped and checked, but my mechanic has told me that the return on the tank has been blanked and the return pipe on the carburettor has about 12inches of pipe and then a rawl plug blanking it. Can any one guess why this has been done?

It is a CT engine.

Just to add, the tank leaks when filled, which is why it is being checked. Been driving it around for 6 months like this.

After reading your post i looked up the purpose of a fuel return line as I was not familiar with its purpose myself.  The link is a generic answer..

Thanks, that gives a bit of information.

I don't know how long it has been like that, but it has been running well, although I haven't been able to put enough fuel in to check the consumption (it feels as though it uses a fair amount).

I was wondering about the circumstances that led to someone blocking it off, as we want to re-attach it correctly.

update - the blank for the return pipe on the fuel tank looks like it is original (?)

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Thanks
