Accelerator cable replacement and idle

Post by JAMIEW »

I've just replaced the accelerator cable and took up slack but not to taut (so it seemed) and it's idling at 3k. Is it a case of just loosening off or is their a simple way of adjusting the idle at the carb end? E D I T should the cable end sit like this or should the square end sit in the hole of the clip? Sorted. I removed the spring shown and the cable end dropped in nicely, so over revving issue sorted. The spring however shot off and can't be found. It doesn't seem to make any difference to throttle modulation in anyway. Should I be concerned about finding and replacing the spring?

That spring shouldn't be there - a numpty's add-on.

Thanks I think the previous owner had fugdge a cable repair at some point as either end on the old cable was nothing like the replacement. There were a few zip ties plus the spring added too. Anyways all seems to be working fine.
