My fuel pump has a short ( 3 or 4 inches) earth wire that is fixed to the same area of body that the pump bracket is bolted to, but just below the pump.

Thanks. Does your van have two wires, white and brown/green, going to a T2 connector behind air filter box and by engine bay wall?

And another reason why l did suggest you go Pierburg on your rebuilt 2.1 :rofl
So easy to fault find compared to fuel injection.

In fact, if you are willing to sell the wiring looms from the two relays that would definately help me out. I got a feeling that is where the issue is coming from. A break in wiring somewhere along the line

This one has dodgy wires on it and it was butchered because it was in a beetle. I doubt the loom itself would have any use aside from having the connectors.

Okay and thanks. Those relay connector may come in handy if one is faulty in my camper.
If you are willing to sell those too, with about 100mm of wire if poss, then PM me with price please.

Thanks for photo T3luestar. Yep same as mine. I dont recall an earth going to crossmember as stated in manual. So am heading back to camper today on my motorcycle armed with additional ideas to test wiring etc.
