Reverse up hill, grinding/rubbing noise - clutch slipping?

Post by MoritzTheDoka »

Good afternoon all, hope everyone is well 👍

I've noticed a bit of a grinding/rubbing noise when underload in reverse (up a gradient, or when trying to back up and onto a kerb etc etc) and I thought I'd ask the boys and girls in the know before i start worrying about it too much ☺️

All gears work fine, and when driving up a steep incline there are no unusual noises, just when reversing and only when 'under load' and not when reversing on flat ground.

It sounds almost like the tyres scrubbing the arches or the exhaust tailpipe dragging/catching something and whilst the van is very low, I can't see anywhere where it's catching.

Anyone have any ideas?
