Breather hose routing

Post by sibey »

Have a 1.9 DG petrol engine with LPG.
Recently bought and checking engine noticed that breather hose inlet to pancake is blanked off and the breather hose pipe has been routed to the air filter.
Anyone know why this would be?Image

I know nothing about the routing of your breather hose, but you really should change that air filter!

You can see where it is supposed to go into the carb from the oil breather tower which is open ended at the moment, maybe the previous owner connected it this way because it was clogging up the carb or I am stating the obvious.

I doubt that re-route has helped with keeping that air filter clean.

I’d connect everything back up as to how it should be.

As it’s a new to you bus, deffo worth completing a full service and clean up :ok

I vaguely remember somebody on the forum mentioning a diaphragm sometimes fails in the oil breather tower unit, which maybe linked to this contamination of the air filter in addition to its wrong configuration.

Some of these breather towers will be the original ones and over 30 years old so it’s probable the diaphragm’s will have failed or not working to their full capacity.
