CV Joint Gasket or seal

Post by WillScott »

Hi
Can anyone advise on whether my standard 1.9dg WBX drive shaft CV,s need a gasket on re-assembly between the CV and the drive flange and or the boot.
I've stripped down my drive shafts and CV joints but didn't see gaskets but images in various websites show gaskets as part of replacement kits. I'm happy my CV,s are ok so want to re-assembly but want to check whether I need gasket before setting off.
Cheers
Will

If I understand what you are meaning, there are no gaskets on the cv joints
there are seals on the drive output on the gearbox, but the cv boots seal to the cv with no gasket

Ok thanks Mocki, there certainly weren't any when I removed the CV but have seen a gasket in a forum photo which might be on a Syncro CV, is that possible.

only Syncro 16" rear inner cvs have a gasket fitted as standard on T25/T3 but many cheap aftermarket cvs have a gasket in with them
