Carburettor
Hi to you all
This is my first post
I have a1984 t25 1900w/cooled
The carburettor is a peirsburg 2e3
I am attempting to remove it and fit a Webber with a adapter kit
Problem 1
The long studs are locked/sized in the inlet manifold Wd and other fluids applied
Help
Problem 2
Old carb close to open,clockwise
New carb close to open anti clockwise
Help
Any advice
I have toyed with the idea of removing the inlet manifold to work on it separately
Any ideas
Any ideas advice will be received with much appreciation

Re: Carburettor
Hi, and welcome! Sorry to be so brutal as it's your first post here, but my advice is: don't.
The Weber conversion is bloody awful, and a massive waste of money to buy more trouble.
Please just fix or replace the Pierburg, and put it back as it should be. I'm sure there'll be others along shortly to back this up, probably followed by the one person who actually likes his Weber.

Re: Carburettor
I don’t know of anyone who actually got a Weber to work correctly on a DG without spending about four times what it would have cost to get the original carb put right.
dells would have been a cheaper better idea .
flog the Weber and call Bromyard is my advice

Re: Carburettor
Depends whos time I suppose
I woulda thought twin carbs would be more of a faff setting up getting someone to do it than the single one.

Re: Carburettor
My experience of fitting a Weber 34 DAT was fine. IMHO far superior to the Pierburg.
It has been on my bus for 7 years now. 1 rebuild kit when i bought it and it hasn't missed a beat.
Just returned from 120 mile round camping trip to North Wales this weekend. Sat on motorway at a steady 60mph there and back on £30 of fuel, still between quarter tank and red mark.
Absolutely no complaints regarding performance or economy.

Re: Carburettor
Had my carb refurbed last week and they discovered that it had had water in it at some point so was very corroded, the garage's advice was to get a Weber.
Interested to know if there are any better options. Cheers.

Carburettor
Send the Pierburg off for a refurb. at Coln Engineering or Bromyard. VW knew what they were doing. But different strokes for different blokes. Just what I’ve learnt over the years.

Re: Carburettor
The Pierburg 2e3 was a very commonly used carburettor by Vauxhall / Opel and VW up until 1992. They were used for economy and reliability.
Webers were reliable units but can often be much thirstier.
Only concerns with the Pierburg 2e3 on my 1987 Cavalier mk2 was the auto-choke (bi-metallic strip).
Alexander manual choke conversion sorted that.
Set up correctly they are great carbs. And easier to set-up than the manuals (Haynes etc) suggest.
