CT 1.6 hose from air filter

Hi All

I need to replace the hoses arrowed in white, which I think are vacuum hoses? The top one in the photo has a hole where it joins (the vacuum?) underneath

Which size hose and T piece do I need for this please, and is there anything I need to do apart from cut them up and push them together?

Thanks
Pete

The T piece is 4x4x4mm and 3.5mm id hose, the over braided fuel hose is OK to use. Just cut to the required length and push on.

Thanks very much

As I was replacing the hose I noticed a pipe below without anything attached.

What should be on there?

Thanks

Looking at this, have I put the pipe back in the wrong place - should it go to the lower or upper hole?

And what size/type pipe is 18 on the diagram?

I think it should have been on the lower one...please correct me if I'm wrong

It looks like the top one goes from red to green:

With the green end being this

Is that correct? Bit missing I think

Thanks

The tubing No 18 is 4mm od, 2mm id nylon, like this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123959677642 ... 4755232998

This the vacuum hose layout.

Thanks, that is a much better diagram. Where is it from please?

it's just as well that the hole in the hose to the intake manifold was noticed, because it made me realise that the hose to the control valve was entirely missing! Might have been why it was dropping revs and coughing at junctions.

This might be linked, but my oil light sometimes comes on when I am coasting or pulling up to a roundabout, and goes off when I rev up again. Is this something to worry about?

The diagram is from the workshop manual.

The oil light can come on at idle. Make sure you are using a 20w50 or better still 15w50 oil.
It can indicate a worn engine, but VW do state it can happen with a hot engine.Image

Thanks, I've got some Morris SAE30 from JK, which I plan to put in this weekend. Hope that is OK stuff.

It is still sounding like the tappets need adjusting, would that have an effect on oil pressure?

I also wonder if it is connected with the big wheels and lower revs all round.

Cheers

Pete

I would go with big herb’s suggestion for oil grade.

Get some of this, better for older air cooled engines.

This is the underside of my CT engine. Does it look like there is an oil leak?

Also, what is the plug with the screw head next to the filter?

Image

Should I get a new oil plate and nuts? One has been replaced. This is after a quick wipe.

Is it worth getting one with an oil plug?

Thanks for any help

There is oil leaking but doesn't particularly serious.
The screw next to the filter is the oil pressure relief valve.
Your choice with the drain plate, but you still need to remove it to the clean the strainer gauze.
Loo like one of the studs has been replaced with an over length stud, stopping the correct domed nut fitting.
