Float valve - solex 34 carb

Post by Merrsh1 »

Evening

Could anyone be kind enough to explain how to check / test the carb float valve is working?

I’ve a leak, I think it’s the valve and want to get it sorted.

I also need to understand that if it does need replacing what to replace it with. I understand the original part is no longer available...

I’ve spent hours googling and can’t find what I need and I’m in terror of ballsing this up.

Cheers

What’s the problem you have , a leaking float valve won’t show a leak outside of the carb it will leak into the inlet manifold

Morning, It’s a leak here from the throttle linkage:

My understanding (likely wrong) is that if the float valve is worn it’ll fail to close and a small amount of fuel can, when the van stops, leak from the carb.

I’ve recently fitted a facet electrical pump so I think the extra pressure may have pushed this over the edge...
