What is this please?

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

What is this please?

Post by Cookie »

Good evening all,

Been underneath the van today draining and refilling the gearbox. Touch wood everything went ok!

However, when underneath, I noticed what is labelled as the fuel pump in the Haynes manual appeared to have a snipped pipe coming from it. And then further above a ‘newish’ cylindrical looking object but many times as big.

I have attached some photos if anyone could put my mind at ease and explain what is what please?

My not so educated hypothesis is that the original fuel pump is now dead. And a more modern electrical one has been added at some point?

Anyway, sorry for the ignorance and any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Cookie

Red circle is the fuel pump, the hose is its breather hose, should tuck in the adjacent hole in the lower tinware. Blue circle is the starter motor

Many many thanks. It’s a learning curve for sure! (Currently have both carbs dismantled across the kitchen floor replacing the gaskets and seals🙈)
All the best
