Is that a float for the fuel gauge?
Is your gauge working? :rollin
If so perhaps last owner replaced float arm cause that popped off :ok

Thanks

I did think it strange I was getting 432mpg!

Yes it is I replaced the sender seals etc.

May not be relevant but the tank is a longrange tank 85lt special option on the original order list. Perhaps they had a different float to the lozenge one?

The cat seems quite interested so if it isn't a vital part of fuel flow/ control I'll down cycle it....!

Some petrol filler necks had a ball check valve to avoid splashing.

Thanks Zoltan, that will be it!
I do have the same contraption on the bottom of the filler tube though not now with the ball... now all I have to do is find where the cat has hidden it!
