Pushrod tubes

Hi can I change the pushrod tubes on a T25 2000cc CU petrol engine without removing the heads...I've seen self adjusting pushrod tubes and the ones you can adjust yourself which is better...Any help would be fantastic...Stay Safe..
I now have a new problem I replaced the pushrod tubes and adjusted the valve clearance on all cylinders by rotating the engine until rota arm was pointing to No 1 and the adjusted No 1 valve clearance then rotated engine anti clockwise 180° so it pointed to No 2 then adjusted No2 valve clearance and so on the No3 and No4...But I think the distributor may be 360°out....because when I looked at the plug leads on the cap No 1 didn't point to the notch on the distributor.....I now stuck on what to do....any help please...

Yes you can, snip the old tubes off and replace with telescopic.

Yes you can and it’s pretty easy to do , order the better quality o rings
Remove the rocker cover
Remove the rocker gear
Pull out the push rods
Remove the pushrod tube retaining spring, if it’s still there
Grab the push rod tube, wiggle rotate and pull toward the head , it will pop out
When replacing be very careful as it’s easy to cut the seals going into the head, I use a small screwdriver to help the seal in
The tubes can be reused, and unless the are rotten are much better than the reproduction ones

2ltr Cu is different to the one in the video , that’s a type one 1600 , similar to a water cooled t25 engine

Viton is the material, Vw heritage most likely

You need eight of each, but buy a few extras, you'll need them one day. Make sure grit and grime doesn't get under or behind the seals.Â

Hi so I can pull them out from the top of the cylinder head...after removing the rocker assembly

Hi all, changed mine for extendable ones on my Caravelle 1.9 petrol auto, took off rocker cover, took off rockers, removed pushrods, when replacing new spring loaded tubes had a bit of bother, oil on fingers gripping,resolved by putting a short piece of wooden brush handle in a drill and turning down to come shape to fit through holes in cylinder head to force pushedÂ
​​​​​​tubes back, removing chance of damage with sharp implements e.g. Screwdriver etc , insert punters through piece of cardboard and number for replacement, cheers Mawsy

Just start again from where No1 spark plug lead is.

Yep just follow the HT leads and adjust them in the right order - I labelled mine up when I did this to avoid confusion and rotated the engine by turning the back wheels in 4th gear.
