Heat Riser removal & replacement

Post by 10to4 »

My LH Heat Riser is corroded through & needs replacing.

The bolts securing the bracket to the tinware are well corroded and inaccessible & I'm doubting I'll be able to remove them with the engine in situ. Has anyone else managed this successfully?

Options I'm considering;

a) Cutting through the bracket, then cutting and joining the bracket of a new heat riser tube.

b) I spotted in a 2007 Forum thread that someone had swapped the Heat Riser for silicone ducting. This would seem to be an easier an more cost effective option, but there's no follow up to say how effective it was.
