Diesel oil filler leak, plastic to metal pipe, JX engine

Post by syncro garry »

Hi
Has anyone managed to separate the plastic filler tube from the metal filler pipe?
It looks as if it should pull off, then I assume there will be an o-ring to replace to stop the oil weep from the union.
I know Brickwerks stock a complete filler pipe but it seems a little excessive to replace the whole thing for an oil seal.
Please let me know if you have had any joy separating these parts.
Thanks
Garry

There is no seal, the plastic part is an interference fit on the metal part if it is loose it will leak, they fail over time, rough handling, heat, vibtation etc.. the end of the metal part  is flared so in production there must be some magic on getting the plastic part on

You could try thoroughly degreasing it and making a repair with a 2 pack plastic metal type material, you would have to take it off the engine to have any chance of doing a successful repair I think, most likely it will only be partially successful though
