JX Loss of power

Post by logipubi »

Hi All can anybody help! When driving along sometimes I loose power completely!!I press the clutch down and put it in neutral and find  that the engine is still running and revs up again so I can continue driving. I can go for days without the problem reoccurring or it can happen again within seconds.I thought it was something to do with the ignition before but now realise that it is not the problem!
Fuel pump!
Electrical!
Any ideas .... it is a very strange and random occurrence.

Sounds like dirt in carb or blocked. Check filters and fuel lines and clean carb? Also check for air leaks. That’s where I would start.

I had loss of power on my diesel when the fuel pipe from the tank to the filter was partly blocked with somw debris floating in the tank.
Beside that I heard a story when the intake hose in the D post was collapsed.
Both were permanent, although voth worth checking.
For an intermittent power loss my suspects are the injection pump and the turbo. But those need special knowledge and machinery to properly rebuld.

He will have trouble finding the carb!
Undo each joint from the fuel line entering the filter onwards to the injection pump, inspect and re-make. Change the fuel filter. I had same symptoms and the banjo for the fuel entering the filter was blocked with crud as was the filter, clean and replace solved it.
Does sound like intermittent insufficient fuel flow.
