It's a rollercoaster, and I am just about to get to the top of something. That something might be a nice gentle coast down. But it might also be the end if the track, and I just fall off the end...

On labour rates, it is bloody expensive. But they are all properly trained. It's not just Dave and his mate who decide one day that he's quite handy with a spanner and sets up his own garage... They do proper apprenticeships for every job you can think of.
The biggest difference is that you start paying as soon as they look at it. In the UK, I could take my car to my local garage and they would look at it, tell me what was wrong and then I could decide what to do - all no charge.
Not the same here. And if it takes longer, you pay more. No fixed price or book price work. And they don't bother to tell you it's going to be more either. I had one job that they said would be about 3 hours. Took them 9... As a 'favour' they only charged me 8... I don't go there any more.

So that is Stesaw and me out of alternative employment then.  :oops:  Especially with engine rebuilds  :rofl
