Steering Knuckle Spacer Ring

Post by jamesakers »

I didn't realise this was a thing until I looked at the Bentley. The modification to the wheel bearing spindle added a spacer ring to meet the oil seal. Part number 251-407-631.

Has anyone replaced theirs?

1. Mine have pock marks where the rust has eaten into it outside of where the oil seal sits. Think I should replace them?

2. What is the best way of removing them without damaging the spindle? It looks like there is enough of a gap to prise them off.

heat is the best way to remove them and a very thin chisel, then a slightly fatter one , however the seal doesnt run on the rusty bit so i don't think there's much to gain by replacing them
