Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

Missing bit from front grill area?

Post by aknapper »

Does anyone know what is missing from here?  This is to the right of the radiator as you look at the front upper grill.  There are a pair of clipped wires that I assume went to something here.Image

Look very much like the. Mounting bracket for a PA horn or external speaker
are the clipped wires just two speaker sized wires , or maybe 6 core multi coloured ?

Once the rain stops I'll get out to the van and take some proper-like pics of the wires and a larger view and post.
External speaker a possibility as there is an aftermarket sound system installed (although I've never had it working).
Rad fan does kick in.  Don't think it is related to the cooling system.
It's a mystery!

Imageok here are better pics of where the mystery object was mounted, and the four wires I think that were possibly going to it.  Haven't had time yet to trace them back to the fuse box.   Thoughts anyone?Image

Puts me in mind of the mount for a 12V siren such as I have secreted in my van (where no one would expect) but the four wires are suspicious. Am I right in thinking that the wire bundle would re-appear inside the van behind the bulkhead somewhere under the dash. If so a two person wire wiggling session might lead (pun ) to a now redundant box of tricks.

I've had a look inside at the wiring and yes it is a bit of a rat's nest with cables for whatever was here, plus now non-existent fog lamps, sony stereo and the big bundle of wires for the alarm system.
But thanks to all who have posted as now I know it is not original and thus I am going to not worry about it.  I'll blank off the lines properly.
