Post by Extractone »

Noobie alert!!!

brand New to all this but purchased a camper recently so apologies if this is a laughable question....

I would imagine that vehicles of this age will leak some oil and mine does but my question is how much would you seasoned experts would say is normal and when should I worry?

thanks in advance

Can you see where it's coming from? Mines a diesel but my bug leaked from the pushrod tubes which are easy to replace with spring-loaded ones. If its from the crank oil seal it's an engine out job but easy to replace once out. Give it a clean up and try and see where it's coming from.

Hello,

A 1.6 ct......life in the slow lane...

OK, if the engine is in good shape, there should be no leaks but rocker box covers etc are a watch point..

However, if the engine is tired, there will be so much crankcase pressure, that oil blows out of the dip stick, liberally coating
everything....including the tailgate...

A little video to get you started:

Thanks for the answers, Took it to a mechanic this morning. He gave it a clean up and sat to monitor it to see if its evident where its coming from.

When I get some time I will jack her up and have a good old look around to see what i can see.

Life in the slow lane indeed!
