Hi all, I have a 1989, 2.1 fuel injected automatic 112 bhp , the oil warning light and buzzer started going off a few days ago, I spent 2 days looking for the second oil pressure switch at the rear of the engine, only to find there had been an engine change in 2001 and this had only the
0ne between the pushrod tubes. I have replaced this and changed the oil, when I start up it is okay on idle, but lights and buzzer come on with any increase of throttle. Am I right unassuming the oil pump is at fault, any advice please cheers Mawsy

You replaced it with the correct switch?
I was under the assumption that all the 2.1's have both the low and high pressure sensor?

not if its a 2.1 in a 1.9 engine bay!? The 1.9 only has wiring for one pressure sensor in its loom.

Re: Buzzer of doom
Yeah I bought a 2.1 recently so I will have to deal with that when I swap out my 1.9. I'll just add the relevant wires and do it right. I'm getting used to going through dodgy old bodged wiring now so it shouldn't be that much of an issue. My van wiring is... interesting to say the least...
But he is saying his Engine only has one oil pressure switch, it should have two? although I guess it could be a 1.9 block built into a 2.1?
The second switch is / should be stuck under the water pump / pulley on a 2.1 if I recall.
Brickwerks has a nice titdbit of info on the pressure sensors. https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/brickwerks ... -switches/
Maybe the wiring for the second switch has been grounded somewhere?? and it loose, just a guess.
