Gearbox oil EP v SAE

Post by Davegrohl99 »

Hey,

I have a 1981 westy manual 4 speed I see SAE 80W/90 GL-4 is the recommended gear oil. My main question is there any difference between that oil and say an EP 80W/90 GL-4 I see Halfrauds seall the later?

It is the same, SAE is the viscosity rating. EP means it is extreme pressure oil suitable for differentials.
