Oil pressure light.
Day 4 with the new van and this happens.
had the van running on the drive for about 10 minutes and then went out for a drive was only diving about 15 minutes and the oil light started to flicker at low revs when I stalled it, stopped for a little while to eat dinner 10mins ish and when I started to drive again the light was flickering on and off, this did this for about another 15 minutes drive until I got home,
so I came on the forum and read a few posts about the issue and had a terrible nights sleep, I've ordered both Oil Pressure Switches and looked at connections this morning,
I'm going to have a better look at all the cables later,
A couple of videos me from this morning
the engine was changed about 7k ago from the receipts that I have.

Re: Oil pressure light.
I would be tempted to change the oil and filter as a matter of course as you have no idea when the last person did it or with what. At least then you know what is in the engine and can work on other things like the electrics.

Yep change the oil and filter first , before fit switches , the key to fault diagnosis Is start at one point , one thing at a time , or you won’t know where you are or what changed what .
One thing I did see from your video ( once my head stopped spinning and the nausea had died down , was the spade connection on the oil switch near the water pump pulley needs to be secured so the alternator belt won’t flick it off if the belt goes . Normally use a more flexible spade and fold the wire back on itself and zippy tie it over at 180° to the spade connection out of the way

GSF have a 60% sale on at the moment, pretty sure I got my Mann filter from them last time.

Re: Oil pressure light.
Maybe get a pressure test done or buy a cheap oil pressure test kit yourself to be sure. The oil light comes on at 0.25Bar (4psi) so even if an oil and filter change gets rid of the light it's best to know what pressure you are running at. Ideally you should be above 2 bar (29 psi) at 80 Deg C and 2000 rpm but from what I read, there are many waterboxers happily running at 1-2bar. Anything lower than 1 bar at 80 Deg C and 2000 rpm probably requires remediation as it could result in engine damage.

Re: Oil pressure light.
Was the light flickering on at normal running speed or just at low revs?

Re: Oil pressure light.
Ciaran, I'm getting a pressure test this morning before I do the oil and filter,
it wasn't flashing at normal running speed until its been warmed up and driven for a bit, then it started to flash

Hey Phillydra,
Before you rip your hair out and think the worse just go have a check of the wiring to the switch. Had a flickering oil light to solid that made my blood run cold so had poke
around and found the wire from the switch had been trapped between the pushrod bash plate and the head and was making the circuit but only at the revs when the vibration
frequency would cause the plate to oscillate and make the contact....Hopefully yours is as simple and straightforwards.

Re: Oil pressure light.
oil pressure ok!
also, the guy that checked if for me renewed the cable and spade connector to the sensor while it was out, he said it had rubbed on the belt, I've got the old one here it was worn through to the inner cable at one point.
so fingers crossed and taking her out tonight for an essential test drive.
