The Bentley manual says the power steering pump should be putting out 115-120 bar pressure.
Would the rack operate correctly at only 110 bar?
I’m retrofitting hydraulic PAS and want to use an electrohydraulic steering pump situated right next to the rack instead of a mechanical pump on the engine. However I can only find them that go up to 110 bar.
Would this be enough considering it’s not having to push the fluid the length of the vehicle?

Re: Hydraulic Power Steering pressure
It will work, probably just a whiff more effort required but most pumps will be worn anyway!
FWIW later big window SA buses had a 75 bar pump, which gives more steering feel.

I’ve bought an electric hydraulic power steering pump from a Zafira/Astra on eBay. Just haven’t gotten round to measuring up what connectors I need for the hoses yet. Need to locate my callipers.PeteandNikki wrote:Have you got any further with this project ?

I've got one of those in my barn, I looked at fitting it but am struggling to find a suitable place for it.keytouch wrote:I’ve bought an electric hydraulic power steering pump from a Zafira/Astra on eBay. Re: Hydraulic Power Steering pressure
At the front is a definite as I want nice short pipe work and I’ve previously run an extra power cable up there.
