starting engine after long period of lockdown

Post by Freddievan »

Hi all

My van has been stood, unmoved and unstarted, for about 12 weeks. I had an engine fault just before the lockdown period and haven't been able to turn the engine over or move the van. Will this cause any issues when (if) I eventually get the van fixed and start it up?

Ok from what I remember it stopped for no real reason while unattended on the drive ?

Nothing will have healed , it’s as you last left it

Check the oil level , check the battery is fully charged , visually check the fuel lines in the engine bay ( large trap door at the back ¡)

Make sure you have plenty of fuel in the tank , ideally employ a operative to watch the engine ,
Get in, press the accelerator to the floor , take your foot off , press it again , take your foot off , and turn the key . It will spin the engine over for several seconds and hope fully fire up .....

I remember your other post. After you got it started did you get round to swapping the voltage regulator on the alternator?
David.

No, not yet. Someone offered to do this for me as well as check the battery and wiring. Then we had a pandemic... and then i became ill. I've been avoiding the van since my recovery but I think I need to attack it now.

I was more concerned about the van being stood for such a long time. it's never been stoood this long before.

I will send for the voltage regulator this week. I've priced it up and it'll be about £15 with postage.

Thanks

I've got one, if you still need? Unused spare , I don't use a wbx anymore. Let me know if you want it, whatever it costs to post and it's yours [WINKING FACE]
