Diesel leak - spurting from injector return line? 1.6JX

Post by Gary. »

Hi helpful people,

I've just returned from a long trip and when I got home the engine was smoking from diesel that appears to have come from the return line off the last injector (forward). The injector has just 20mm or so of pipe from the retrun to the open air! I don't think this is right, but it's really not clear whether there should be something on the end of it or has it broken or what?

I'm really no good at engines, but have taken a good look through the VAG service manual and others but cannot determine where or what happens at this point.

I've attached a picture which might make this clearer. Thanks again in advance!

https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/other-vehi ... nuine.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also available from halfords or eurocarprats.

My leak of pipes tend to degrade after about 2 years, might be a good preventative measure to replace all the injector pipes with some quality rubber (again brickwerks).

Looks like I've just lost a plug! Brilliant, thanks guys, that's a super easy fix. I'll pop to local suppliers today.

Of course, Brickwerks are really the only decent source and they pretty much have everything! I've bodged it for now with a short piece of new pipe plugged with a nail!
