Radius bushes (OE vs VW)

Post by sciroccotune »

Hi folks!

I have just started replacing the front radius arm bushes (what a job that is!) and I notice that my new parts are not exactly the same as the Vw originals on the van.

The VW parts have metal faces on both the inner and outer bush where as the new OE Fabi bushes only have the outer bush with a metal face.

Any one know if it's just a change or have an opinion on the matter?

Thanks

Had some bad results with the Febi bushes I used last year, one inner collapsed badly within 6 months, splitting around the entire circumference. Although quite expensive in comparison, Polybushes are the way to go. Had to do the job twice including two visits to the four wheel alignment bay so bang goes your initial savings fitting the cheaper Febi's not to mention all the pigging hassle doing the job twice.

Hi Martin, that's bad news! Febi used to be a reliable make in days gone by. I am concerned about the lack on the metal outer on the inner bush allowing more movement than the original.

That said both KW and BW supply the same ones so maybe an 'update'

I'm not normally a fan of Polly on my road cars but it may be the way to go.

Thanks
