Right engine?

Just joined to help me keep my daughter's 79 camper on the road. I think the forums brilliant.
My first question is this.The van has had a replacement water cooled engine at sometime in its life.Would it have had an air cooled unit originally. The current engine is playing up and I am not sure which way to move forward.......Sam

hi and welcome
yes if built in 1979 it would have been air cooled, will have steel rear air intake vents and big gutters and a host of early bodywork features; plus the conversion to watercooled

The forum doesn't have server space to host pictures so you need to sign up to a service like photobucket, upload your pictures there and then link to them in your posts.

Thanks to all for helping the luddite.The van has plastic air intakes. I am going to check chassis number because I'm getting worried.Has anyone seen a V plate with water cooling?

Is it diesel or petrol?
