PAS rack

Post by what2do »

I know that BW do a service kit fir the steering rack but do they ever go wrong in a bad way that means they're only good for the scrap bin? Soooo close to parting with the money but I'm cagey about the inherent risk of buying second hand and all the dramas it can bring. Thanks.

My PAS was S/H when it was fitted it's been on the van for years with no problems. As far as I know the worst that could happen is that a seal might begin to leak.

Put a fresh filter in the reservior and use the correct fluid. Also when putting together the system use correctly rated hoses for the pressure and fluid type.

When you come to fill up fluid to bleed system make sure the front wheels are off the ground,i made the mistake of having wheels on the ground when turning left to right to bleed, now have a small leak on rack, it also got a bit messy in the engine department !

Reason being? What difference does raising the front make?

Less drag on the rack as it is not attempting to tear the tyres apart?
