good evening all,
I have a 1988 vw t25 1.6 td. my gear lever was like a pudding stick but I could find all of the gears fine, i don't know why but I decided to change the plastic bushes etc.. to see if I could stop the play in the lever. before I check this I had my local mechanic to repair my sump as it was cracked, as you know you have to remove the gearbox to take the sump off. when I drove the van back from the garage 1st and 2nd gear was really hard to find so hard in fact when I put the van in 1st gear at a junction the gear lever snapped. can anyone give me a few suggestions on what you think the problem could be?? I have been told so many things what the problem can be I don't no where to start now.. can any anyone help me please? cheers colin....

Re: gear problems
At the top of the page is the Wiki - There is a good guide on setting up your gear change before you think about removing the gearbox
