Pedal box, rhd, 1986. Won't come out :(

Post by silverbullet »

Not for love or money.
The clutch slave is off and the pipe out of the way, pedal rubbers off, floor mats folded down.
The pedal box will lift until the pedals disappear behind the crash beam, then it jams.
Could the pedals be bent or splayed? There is exactly 100mm inside the pedal arms and they measure 254mm over the foot pedals.
All I seem to be doing is getting back ache and removing paint...

Did it! Carefully studying the photos in the Book of Lies shows that the pedal box has to be lifted, slid over to the right and then leaned to the offside, it is also necessary to spring the clutch pedal arm!
The telltale graze on the bulkhead paint next to the heater was only obvious once it was out...
i.e. they could be a bu66er to fit even in the factory.
None of this is mentioned in Haynes and this info needs to go in the Wiki!
