Thanks Kev but the more I look into the carb the more I feel I should just outright replace it.
because when I took it off I noticed that It doesn't have the cone filter in the input side.
The pump injector snapped.. my fault as It was very much stuck and in my efforts to work it loose I snapped it... It did come out but the filter and rubber seal stayed in the carb as they were stuck inside sideways so I had to pull them out, looked crushed.. so that probably wasn't helping.
Obviously when taking it apart I split the gasket.(not a biggie I know rebuild kits are about £40ish)
It's also an early model (it has the 5 screws holding it together at the top.) part of me would like to dissasemble it and rebuild it but not sure if it would be worth spending on it compared to a £260 new reproduction from vwheritage... I'd imagine nowhere near £250 but not sure I want the hassle, especially if I keep either breaking things myself or finding more gremlins  .

The replacement Brosal Carburettor is not entirely perfect.
Money is better spent on restoration of yours.

Just looked Bromyard up, it's a fair bit of cash for a refurb.. £395 puts that in webber carb territory and £295 for a repair is more than a new Brosol. I am sure they do great work, but if I am going to rebuild mine I'd like to do the work myself as I want to know as much as possible about the van. Maybe I should trawl Ebay for a 2e3 (I have put a Wanted add on the forums as well) and use it for parts to refub my one as I now also need a pump injector piece along with the plastic throttle arm.

To be fair I would rather just get another 2E or refurb mine.

I have to put my weight behind bromyard who know these carbs inside out. I have a remanufactured one from them and it is like, or better, than new.

In my experience, they will also give you a lot of information about reinstalling and running the carb, as well as about what was wrong with and rectified with the unit you send. It gives me a 'known good' starting point from which I can begin any future diagnostics and that -with something as complicated as the 2e3 - is golden.

So I wouldn't hesitate going with the repair from bromyard. If you want to learn about the carb and do a diy, getting a used one isn't a bad idea and following the videos, but beware that a lot of the rebuild kits are but very good, and even in the good ones, things like the float valve seals are not great, and you should in fact keep the original pierburg if you have it, and it's not in bad condition. Either way good luck and have fun :)

Late coming into this thread and it suddenly dawned on me that I haven't got the plastic choke linkage as I bought my carb and throttle linkage separately.

Does anyone still have one and how can I buy it?...

Thanks
