Steering rack bushes stuck
What's the best way to remove steering rack bushes in situation?
I'm replacing these with a set of PowerFlex bushes. I've undone everything and managed to drop the steering rack to get access, but the original bushes are not budging.
I was going to use a long M8 threaded bar, large socket, washers etc. and try to screw it out. Is that the best option?

Re: Steering rack bushes stuck
Cheers gents for the ideas. I went with Ian's olde skool styleee in the end.
I managed to pickup a long M8 bolt this morning on my way into work and tried out the unscrewing technique with washers, nuts and large 32mm Socket when I got home this evening, worked a treat!
All 4 bushings are now out awaiting the new Powerflex versions, which all going well I'll try to fit tomorrow.

Re: Steering rack bushes stuck
Does anyone have to hand the correct torque setting to use to tighten up the steering rack bushes?
I've lent out my manual.

25Nm according to Bentley
It's worth noting that Bentley have the lock nuts to the steering rack bolts listed as an 'always replace' item - see silverbullet's post here.

Thanks for the torque setting clift_d
I bought some basic locking nuts from a B&Q. The type with a plastic locking.
From the linked post it sounds as if I should hunt out some All Metal Stover Nuts instead.

Nyloc nuts will be just fine.

Re: Steering rack bushes stuck
Thanks Ian for confirming, went ahead and finished this job with the Nyloc nuts.
@Clem: I've only gone out for some short drives so far, but already you can notice that the steering is slightly more responsive and as I don't have power steering, to me it felt a tiny bit lighter.
The old bushings that I removed were actually in pretty good condition, hence why they were tough to remove, so I reckon if they were in a poor condition I'd notice a bigger improvement. It's a cheap and relatively simple improvement that you can do on your own, so I'd definitely give it a go!
