Just a quick update:

Engine is in (finally) todays will hook up ancillaries fluids etc.. and hopefully by the end of play will post the results.

Info for those contemplating engine swaps, this is what I needed to change over:

Water baffles side and front.
Sump oil internal ductwork.
Oil pan.
Oil filler tube.
Flywheel.
Clutch.
Fuel pump throttle controls (they sit to high)
Oil cooler.
Air intake manifold (only because I forgot the original for the donor engine)

New parts purchased:

Spigot bearing.

Update later, thanks to all for the much needed and appreciated help/advice :ok

:ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok :ok

Who is a happy man today :D :D :D :D :D :D Me.

Engine runs really nice, first turn of the key a few turnovers then that beautiful deep throaty roar. well the exhaust has yet to be sorted, but for now, it is enough it starts and runs sweet :D

On previous post forgot to add the dip stick.

The only issues I have come across, is the throttle cable is not quite long enough? will ponder that one later, and both water flanges leak a little, ask me who forgot to put a gasket on, again a minor issue easily remedied. Just thought I would share the good news with you.

Throttle cable linkage sorted, had slight oil leak from dipstick tube, hopefully that too is now sorted. I have a question on what to do regarding the exhaust? I am not sure whether to try and use old box and find a way to wrap the down pipe under and back but am afraid it may sit to low, or run the down pipe down and forward to wards front of van and bring it out the left side between front and back wheels? I have not seen this type of down pipe connection so any ideas as usual would be appreciated. Pic attached.

Hopefully someone else has an idea as to what to do there - not something that I have come across. Looks weird!

Regarding the 1.6d/1.6 td cast into the block ,both the jx and the sb i have, have 1.6d on the exhaust/inlet side of the block and both have oil squirters!
Perhaps the early turbo blocks had 1.6td cast into the block?
I dont think, so I'm not[do I exist?]
