Dash removed. What should I do while it's off.

Post by pandkh »

Hi

I decided to remove the dash in order to trace a water leak. What other routing jobs should I do while its off. I was thinking about

greasing the bearing on the air blower motor
Rinsing out the heater matrix
Intermittent wash wipe
Headlight relay mod

Sounds like a lot now that i've written it down, but I have missed anything?

Thanks

I would consider replacing the blower motor whilst the dash is out, assuming its the original one that's in there.

I'm doing this tomorrow.
I'm going to fit the BMW servo, hopefully I won't have to touch the pedal box or the peddle box.

Don't forget to allow enough space to open both doors far enough to get at the 2 bolts at each end! ( I had mine up on stands next to a fence when I did mine!)

Ah, thanks for the reminder.
My barn is a little on the narrow side so I'll have to remove them first.

washer hose you can get in aquatic shops by the way. I used the silicon stuff when I replaced mine - not sure if that was good or bad. :D

I did mine last month and got 3m of 4mm silicon tube from ebay for under £6 posted. I also swapped the washer jets for some twin nozzle ones.

Also worth considering adding 12v 'fag lighter' sockets into the dash for charging phones/ipods etc. I fitted 2.

have you got the ebay number for the nozzles - I've just had my dash out and fitted the 'fan' nozzles and I'm not impressed at all, misses the bottom of the drivers side
