Can anyone recommend mechanic or garage

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

Can anyone recommend mechanic or garage

Post by Bondy007 »

Hi
Brand new to this forum and loving all the chat- we have a Camper and the company we bought the vehicle off have been a nightmare - horrid to deal with all the nightmare scenarios you fear when handing over a wedge for a new baby (sort of turquoisey green t25) - we live in south London - does anyone know of a good (kindly) garage that we can take our van to for maintenance - that know what they are doing and won't stuff us on a regular basis? Or is that sounding too ga ga goo goo land? Bondus

Which part of South London? There is Riverside Autos in Charlton, or Volkspares in Sydenham (probably a bit of specialist tax on them). I've no idea about south west.

Welcome to the forum and club, if you feel like doing any of the work yourself then there is a good wealth of knowledge right here!

I've found Pullman garage in SW9 to be nice and scrupulously honest but they don't rebuild engines though. Where are you in S. London. It might be a good idea to list the problem, you can find that the Gurus on here can talk you through and it can be an easy fix. If you haven't got one get a manual and a couple of ramps(got mine from screw fix for £40) can make life a lot easier

Always good to have local contacts, where are you in South London? I'm Bermondsey, there's a few of us around and it's always good to have a bit of support.

Hi all and thanks so much for your warm and welcoming responses. We live in SE1 - family of four of us (two little ins three and under) and desperate to find a good reliable soul who can help us look after the fifth member of our family - we went travelling for two stretches around europe with in our VW and just love it so much - the company we bought it from has turned out to be a bit of a baddun (the guy who owns it is not bad - just slack and taken us for a bit of a ride)…so we are looking for someone who can keep it well tuned and help us with a few modifications we want to make. I am so sorry for being so slow in response last time - will be more vigilant to any responses. Sam :P

What sort of mods are you thinking of doing most things can be DIY all by your little old self unless you have spanner fobia

I think we might be of the spanner fobia type which of course begs the question why get a camper? Ours is a new 2011 model - I think it was the second to last to enter the country from Mexico - subsequently we want to keep on top of rusting problems and servicing issues - issues that only a few years in we have started to run into - so really we are looking to build a relationship with a local person that can help us look after it - we have been fleeced by the company we bought it off so far- the mods we are looking to do are replacing the steering wheel and sorting out the fridge which is simply not working on gas.

Any thoughts? Sam

A new 2011 model? Imported from Mexico? Are you sure this is a T25 we're talking about?

This is club 80-90 the clue being that the T25 was made between those years...1980 to 1990

Suggest you go the the Volkszone site, or just buy a copy of Volksworld magazine. There are dozens of specialists advertising in there. Got to be honest, if its a new 2011 model, then your problems should be few.
